Between the early-October festival circuit and Halloween itself, the second half of October layers on the region's best haunted trails, antique markets, and pumpkin stops. This guide covers the verified mid-October 2026 events across Grand Blanc, Fenton, Linden, Columbiaville, and Tyrone Township: the Fall Davisburg Antique Festival weekend of October 10-11, Grand Blanc's Witches Night Out and Pumpkin Fest, Fenton's Howling Haunted Trail nights, Columbiaville's Chili Cook-Off traditions, and the cider mills and corn mazes within easy reach of every community. Event details below come from city, township, village, chamber, and organizer sources; confirm directly with each host before you head out.
October 10-11: The Fall Davisburg Antique Festival Weekend
The biggest single draw of mid-October is the Fall Davisburg Antique Festival, presented by Michigan Antique Festivals at Springfield Oaks County Park (12451 Andersonville Rd., Davisburg). It runs Saturday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with admission at $10 per person, children 11 and under free, and free parking. More than 400 antique and vintage dealers set up across five barns and countless tents, including the huge barn sale in the historic Ellis Barn, with unique food trucks, live acoustic music, and a craft beer garden; on-site family camping and porter service for hauling heavy finds are part of the package. Details are on the Michigan Antique Festivals site.
Davisburg sits just across the Oakland County line, about 20 minutes south of Fenton and roughly 25 from Grand Blanc, which makes the festival an easy day trip mid-showing-schedule. It is also a useful stop for anyone shopping the Big Lake and Davisburg lake country; see our Davisburg waterfront living guide if lakefront is on your list.
If you are in the Columbiaville direction the same weekend, the village's annual Chili Cook-Off has landed on the second Saturday of October in recent years (October 12 in 2024 and October 11 in 2025), which in 2026 is October 10; the official date, entry rules, and the accompanying scarecrow contest judging are posted on the Village of Columbiaville's website.
Grand Blanc's Mid-October Week: Witches Night Out, Casino Night & the Haunted Trail
Grand Blanc packs three well-verified events into five days mid-month. Witches Night Out returns Thursday, October 15 starting at 5 p.m. around The Grand Chalet Shoppes and Physicians Park in the downtown area, a costumed shopping evening with participating merchants; it appears on the City of Grand Blanc events page. Friday, October 16 brings a Casino Night at Atlas Valley Golf Club on Perry Road at 7 p.m., tickets about $45. Then Saturday, October 17 at 6 p.m., a family-friendly Haunted Trail and Kids Halloween Party takes over 8070 S. Saginaw St., pairing an all-ages haunted walk with a kids' party so younger ghouls have their own fun.
These evenings are a window into Grand Blanc's walkable core: downtown storefronts on Saginaw Street, the park network around Physicians Park, and the established subdivisions that feed Grand Blanc Community Schools. For buyers, an evening event beats a weekend drive-through for judging how a neighborhood actually feels.
Fenton: The Howling Haunted Trail's Second and Third Weekends
Fenton's Howling Haunted Trail at Adopt-A-Pet (13575 N. Fenton Rd.) runs Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 11 p.m., with its mid-October nights on October 16-17 and its final 2026 nights on October 23-24. The trail mixes a haunted woods walk with horror scenes, bonfires, a beer tent, a food truck, tarot readings, and games; it is recommended for ages 13 and up, with tickets from about $25 purchased through the trail's site. All proceeds benefit Adopt-A-Pet's rescue work, so the scares come with a cause.
The trail sits on North Fenton Road between downtown Fenton and the new-construction corridor in Fenton Township, an easy pairing with a Sunday of showings at communities like Cider Creek and the Fairways of Spring Meadows area. It is also a reminder that October tends to bring second-wave listings before the holidays, so the same drive can cover houses and haunted hayrides in one afternoon.
Columbiaville & the Farm Country: Scarecrows, Corn Mazes and Cider
Columbiaville's October is defined by small traditions: the month-long scarecrow contest with village residents and businesses building displays from Main to the Holloway Reservoir, judging timed with the Chili Cook-Off, and the spooky Halloween ATV Parade whose exact date the village confirms each year. Around the village, the farm country delivers some of the season's best stops:
- Fick Farms (3199 N. Lapeer Rd., Lapeer, about 15 minutes from Columbiaville) runs a fall corn maze, a u-pick pumpkin patch, and hayrides through October.
- Spicer Orchards (10411 Clyde Rd., Fenton), the sixth-generation apple farm, keeps u-pick apples and pumpkins, its corn maze, train and wagon rides, and cider and donuts rolling through the fall.
- Diehl's Orchard & Cider Mill (1479 Ranch Rd., Holly, between Grand Blanc and Fenton) is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October 31, with a free corn maze, a u-pick pumpkin patch, and $3 hayrides that run through October 18.
- Parshallville Cider Mill (8507 Parshallville Rd., Fenton, between Fenton and Brighton) is the historic mill option for fresh-pressed cider, and Porter's Orchard in nearby Goodrich is the go-to for cider and hot cider donuts near Grand Blanc.
Farm schedules can shift with the weather, so check each farm's site or social pages before visiting. For the full orchard and farmers market list, revisit our late-summer harvest guide.
Linden & Tyrone Township: A Not-So-Spooky Run-Up
Linden keeps the pre-Halloween pace family-first. Happening in Linden, the volunteer group behind Linden's National Night Out and Holiday Happening, hosts Zombies, Scarecrows and Monsters on October 23-24, 2026, a family event sized for the community. On Halloween itself, the Fenton & Linden Regional Chamber of Commerce runs "An Event So Good It's Scary", with local businesses in both downtowns serving as hospitality points for family trick-or-treating on October 31, so kids can stroll the historic storefronts in Fenton and Linden safely.
Neighboring Tyrone Township is quieter by design, which is much of its appeal for buyers who want acreage without giving up the festival circuit. The township does not set official trick-or-treat hours, a pattern Livingston Daily has documented across several Livingston County communities, so residents typically follow Halloween evening (October 31) and the feel of their own subdivision roads. The farm roads between Fenton and Linden are near peak color now; see our fall color guide for the best leaf-peeping routes, and check the township calendar for any newly posted October dates.
The Pre-Halloween Week: Pumpkin Fest and Trunk-or-Treat
The last full week of October is when Halloween actually starts. Grand Blanc's Pumpkin Fest returns to Physicians Park (218 Reid Rd.) on Friday, October 23 starting at 5 p.m., a city and Irene's partnership with a carved-pumpkin contest, the walk among the jack-o'-lanterns, and free trick-or-treating from 5 to 8 p.m., followed by music, food, and drink at Irene's until 10; pumpkin drop-off runs noon to 4 p.m. that day. The day before, Thursday, October 22 at 5 p.m., the KW Trunk or Treat gathers families in the parking lot of the Keller Williams First office at 10785 S. Saginaw St., the same building where our team works, which makes it an easy neighborhood meet-and-greet for buyers scouting Grand Blanc. Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31 this year, and Grand Blanc has historically held citywide trick-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m. on Halloween; the official 2026 schedule is announced as published.
What the Season Means for Buyers and Sellers
Two timing notes matter this month. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate averaged 7.28 percent for the week ending October 1 per Freddie Mac, the latest published reading as this guide posts (the next survey is due Thursday, October 8), putting principal and interest near $2,395 a month on a $350,000 loan. Michigan buyers can still negotiate up to 3 percent seller-paid costs on a conventional loan and 6 percent on FHA, which can cover points, closing costs, or a temporary buydown. For a close before Thanksgiving, the typical 45-day path means going under contract by about October 12; follow our week-by-week buyer's calendar for every deadline in between, and see the first-week-of-October market update for the town-by-town numbers.
And for house hunting, this is the month that answers the questions listings cannot: how walkable is downtown really, how hard is parking on event nights, and what do neighbors actually do on a Saturday? Festival crowds, porch pumpkins, and school sidewalks tell you more about a block than square footage ever will. Our early-October calendar and full October Halloween guide round out the month if you are planning further ahead.
